Produced on 13th September 1973 this original UK supplied example was distributed new by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd and was originally specified in Argento Auteuil Metallizzato 106-E-1 (silver) over a Nero 161 vinyl (black) interior. Purchased new by a Mr D Wood of Buckinghamshire the Ferrari was acquired by its second owner, T A Ward of Surrey, and was again sold in 1986 to John Maughan of London who owned the Ferrari for eight years. The current and fourth owner acquired the Dino in 1994 through specialist dealer Forza 288 Ltd. Used regularly during his tenure the Ferrari has been maintained and serviced regardless of cost with many invoices to show on file.
Presented in good order throughout the Ferrari looks superb. The coachwork retains a deep shine and is generally in good condition although as expected with a frequently used example there are some minor signs of age, notably two small cracks at the front, along with some light fading to the chrome work in areas. The interior of the Dino is presented very well, the seats are virtually unmarked and the original Veglia dials are working as they should, the door cards and carpets are smart and the removable targa roof is in good working condition.
Notable works undertaken to this lovely example include an extensive engine rebuild carried out by Ferrari specialists Talacrest in 2002 costing £21,982 (a sizeable figure at the time and with the odometer reading 75,891, now showing 98,423). A comprehensive bodywork restoration was also completed in 2016 by leading specialists Haynes Motor Museum including a colour change to the dark blue you see today, the work of which costing circa £37,600. Other bills and invoices to note include a major service and general maintenance in 2020 at a cost of £5,050 carried out by Webster and Lancaster, along with a history file full of sundry bills, invoices from Ferrari Maranello Egham for maintenance and servicing, many old Mot records, a copy of the 246 Dino workshop repair manual, confirmation of its original specification, and its current UK registration document. Dry stored in the current vendors ownership this well maintained, and imminently usable, matching numbers example is ready for its new custodian.
