This very well presented left hand drive, manual, example was originally dispatched to Philipsons Automobil AB, Sweden on 14^th February 1958 and is presented in its original colour combination of cream paintwork (Elfenbein 608) over a red interior (Rot 1074). Purchased by its first owner, a Mr Gösta Hellqvist, an airline pilot, on 6^th May 1958. The Mercedes later resided in Alvesta, Sweden with its then owner, a Mr Ake Axelsson who between 2004 and 2012 treated the car to much restoration work. The body was restored, and the interior and hood were renewed to a very high standard, as too were the bumpers and chrome work, the cost of which totalling circa 38,000 Euros. In 2016 Mr Axelsson commissioned Classix By Schiebler to sell his 190SL where it was purchased by the most recent private keeper here in the UK. Since import the 190SL has been maintained by marque specialists PKF Engineering with bills amounting to £3,198. Recently the carburettors have been professionally rebuilt as well as being treated to an annual service including new spark plugs. The engine and body have also been detailed and as such the 190SL looks superb, the paintwork is very good, and the interior, hood, and engine bay remain in very presentable condition showing few minor blemishes. Offered with a sizeable history file including the original data card and build sheet, many invoices and receipts relating to the restoration, a copy of a 190SL workshop manual, recent maintenance invoices, an Mot showing no advisories valid until May 2025 and the current UK Registration document.
